WE ASK THAT THE SYRIAN REFUGEES’ DEMANDS BE MET IMMEDIATELY

The Open Assembly of Brahami Residents, having supported and participated in the struggle of the Syrian refugees at Syntagma Square from the start, took the initiative of opening the occupied cafeteria for temporary housing and feeding of the 30 most vulnerable people among them in the face of possible repression by the authorities in the following days. We took this initiative so that they can continue their struggle. We believe that what the government wants is to get the Syrians out of the way in time for the Christmas fiesta and make them be forgotten just like so many others these days. We will continue to support their struggle at Syntagma Square and beyond. We make clear that the Assembly do not propose this action as an answer to their demands. On the contrary, respecting their struggle, we are showing our solidarity by addressing their immediate need for temporary housing.

The demands of the Syrian refugees are:

• That food, shelter and medical assistance be provided to them without any conditions in facilities that are or will be made available by municipalities, the Prefecture of Athens, social institutions and particularly those responsible government agencies, before this humanitarian crisis turns into a tragedy.

• That Greece demand from the European Union to assume the obligations arising from the E.U. Directive 55/2001 (as integrated in the Presidential Decree 80/2006) and recognise the Syrians as victims of armed conflict.

• That countries of the European Union be obliged to assume their responsibilities and accept refugees in their territory, supplying them with the necessary documents for this.

• That they be granted asylum with quick procedures and the conditions for their stay in the country be secured.

We consider it a fundamental human duty of every citizen and organisation to assist the victims of this war in satisfying their immediate needs (housing, food, clothing, medical care, etc.). We CALL UPON EVERYONE to support the struggle by bringing essentials, food and blankets to the occupied cafeteria.

In this context, the City Council of Aghios Dimitrios have unanimously accepted a petition whereby they agree to coordinate their welfare structures so they can actively contribute to addressing the aforementioned needs. They have also agreed to put pressure on the Prefecture of Athens and the appropriate state authorities to implement their institutional roles and immediately meet the Syrians’ fair demands and actively contribute to satisfying their needs for survival. Lastly, they have agreed to help mobilise the councils of neighbouring municipalities.

Another companion we have in this struggle is the Union of Workers in the Municipality of Aghios Dimitrios.

نداء لتلبية فورية لمطالب اللاجئين السوريين

ان الجمعية المفتوحة لسكان منطقة براهامي (Brahami) المشاركة والداعمة منذ بدء نضال اللاجئين السوريين في ساحة البرلمان سيندغما، وأمام إمكانية طردهم في الايام القادمة، أخذت زمام المبادرة وفتحت مؤقتا الكافتيريا بحديقة الاسيرمتو (Asyrmato) لإسكان وتغذية 30 شخصا من النساء والاطفال والأكثر ضعفا (المقترحين من قبل اللاجئين) لتمكينهم من مواصلة نضالهم.

نحن نعتقد أن ما تريده الحكومة على ضوء الاحتفال بأعياد الميلاد ورأس السنة هو ابعاد المعتصمين السوريين عن الساحة وطمر قضيتهم، كما فعلت مرات عدة على مر السنين. نخن سوف نستمر في دعم نضال المعتصمين في ساحة البرلمان سيندغما ولكل خياراتهم النضالية لتحقيق مطالبهم.

ونحن نوضح أن الجمعية لا تقترح هذا كحلٍ لهذه الحركة بل العكس، تطالب احترام نضالهم وتظهر تضامنها لحاجة عاجلة لتأمين مساكن مؤقتة.

مطالب اللاجئين السوريين هي:

• تأمين فوري للاجئين السوريين الذين دخلوا إلى اليونان،من مأوى، طعام، ومساعدات طبية باستخدام البنى والطاقات المتاحة لدى البلديات، والمحافظات، والمؤسسات الاجتماعية وخاصة تلك الهيئات الحكومية المسؤولة، دون أي شروط، قبل أن تقع مأساة إنسانية.
• مطالبة اليونان من الاتحاد الأوروبي لتحمل الالتزامات الناشئة عن توجيه الاتحاد الأوروبي 55/2001 (كما وردت في المرسوم الرئاسي 80/2006) الاعتراف بالسوريين على أنهم ضحايا النزاع المسلح.
• إجبار دول الاتحاد الأوروبي إلى تحمل مسؤولياتها وقبول اللاجئين على أراضيها، وتزويدهم بالوثائق اللازمة
• إعطاء بإجراءات سريعة الوثائق اللازمة لطالبي اللجوء الى اليونان وتأمين الظروف الملائمة لإقامتهم في البلاد.
  
  

إننا نعتبر أن الواجب الإنساني يحتم على كل مواطن، هيئة، شركة أو مؤسسة أن يهبوا لمساعدة ضحايا هذه الحرب، وتلبية الاحتياجات الفورية الخاصة بهم (السكن، الغذاء، الملبس والرعاية الطبية، وغيرها)..

ندعو جميع المواطنين دعم النضال بتجميع المواد الأساسية والمواد الغذائية والبطانيات في الكافتيريا المحتلة بحديقة الاسيرمتو.

في هذا السياق، وافقت بلدية آغيوس ديمتريوس (براهامي) على قرار بالإجماع حيث:

• يوافق على تنسيق البنى الاجتماعية التابعة له والتي تساعد فعليا لتلبية هذه الاحتياجات.
• يمارس الضغط على المحافطة / أتيكا والهيئات الحكومية المناسبة لتنفيذ دور ومباشرة تلبية مطالب عادلة والمساهمة الفعالة لتلبية الاحتياجات المعيشية.
• وأخيرا البلدية سوف تساعد في هذا الاتجاه على تعبئة البلديات المجاورة
